STUDENT & PARENT SUPPORT

Learning Support

At Take 1, we value the abilities and achievements of all our pupils and the contribution that every young person can make. We welcome the diversity of culture, individuality and intellectual style that comprises our Academy population.

Take 1 is committed to providing each pupil with the best possible environment and opportunities for learning. We seek to raise the achievement, remove/reduce the barriers to learning and increase all our student’s ability to access the curriculum.

Our SEND support staff are dedicated to providing an enthusiastic, motivated and driven environment, where students and adults work together to provide a diverse and supportive atmosphere.

All our young pupils with SEND are valued as equal members of our community and our staff adopt and reinforce the aims and objectives of the SEND Policy.

Safeguarding

At Take 1, we place the highest priority on safeguarding children. All staff within the School receive robust and regular training in order to discharge their safeguarding duties to the highest of standards, ensuring that every one of our students feels safe, secure and listened to.

We place great value on educating students in keeping themselves safe through: a tailored PHSE programme and a team of staff dedicated to providing pastoral care, guidance and support. Our relationship with the local authority and other front-line agencies enables us to provide a holistic platform for our students to flourish and achieve.

To keep our students safe, we need the support of our community. Please inform us immediately if you have any concerns about a young person’s safety, inside or outside of our School.

Your help and support is extremely important to us. If we are made aware of any issues, our trained staff can help to resolve any problems. Safeguarding children is everyone’s job.

Should you wish to speak to a member of our safeguarding team, please do not hesitate to contact them by emailing [email protected].

E-Safety

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has an important role to play in the lives of young people and as ICT is being used more frequently, it is important to raise the issue of E-safety and promote safe and responsible usage of ICT in schools and at home.

E-Safety is a national issue and we all must aim to ensure that the Internet is used in a safe manner. In addition to this, being aware of privacy settings, filters and safe usage of social networking sites will enable young people to feel protected online.

As part of the ICT curriculum, pupils learn about what information should not be shared in a public domain.

As well as this, pupils are educated about the Internet etiquette and guidelines that should be adhered to on social networking sites.

EAL

Many of our students have English as a second or additional language to the one they learned as a child or speak at home. We offer different types of support to our students to help them access lessons depending on their level of need.

Teaching assistants support students in lessons, adapting resources and helping them access the content and skills of the lesson.
